baby shower fun

This past Saturday, my sister threw me a lovely baby shower. Yummy food was devoured, fun times had with the lady friends and games were played. You might be wondering where are all the pics?... well, as my charming sister loves to embarrass me at these types of things, I was dressed up as a Bartlett Pear for the entire event (imagine lime green tank top, giant fruit sticker on the Bun tummy, and even a lovely stem and leaf on a headband to top it off). I was a good sport and endured the outfit, but I do have limits... so the pear photos of me will not be online.

Oh yes, might I add, for my stagette a few years back, she made me dress like a bunch of grapes - purple tank top covered in purple balloons. (Our group of ladies was doing a series of wine tours, so I guess that's how that idea came about). Hmmm... little does she realize that that tables will turn when it is her turn and I get to plan these events!!! Mwahahahaha....

Anyhoo, one of the fun things everyone got to do was to personalize a blank onesie for Bun... such a cute and crafty idea! Here is shot of a few of them. Thanks to all the ladies who came and made it such a fun time!

Ok, so 11 weeks to go... as well as another shower (the big family one) which in asian tradition will be held a month or two post-birth. It's now dawning on me that the little Bun is going to be here soon! Eeeeep!

  1. Bun is going to be precious in those onesies.
The pear outfit sounds funny and adorable, only sisters can get us to do such things. :)

  4. very cute idea, I wish that I had had control over my shower (and that I wasn't so bloated up that all I was allowed to do by my Mom and Aunt was put my feet up) I'd have been making everyone paint onesies.

You'll want to keep these once the bun's too big for them; sewing them together to make a quilt or a wall hanging... of course you'll want to employ the use of a bib so that they don't stain.

    I love the onesie idea!
Your sister is hilarious....thinking she has a strange connection with you and various fruits. (Did you torture her her with them when you were kids?;)
    Wishing you the best! xo

  7. What an adorable and creative idea!
The grape "costume" sounds like a riot too, LOL!
The onesie project kind of reminds me of another one that I heard about a while ago. A bride-to-be requested that her friends and family design a piece of china at one of those "paint it yourself" places; the crazy mismatched pieces became her place settings. :D

  8. What a talented group of ladies, the onesies are all so cute and look very professional.

Your sister sounds like a hoot, but as they say; "She who laughs last, laughs loudest". I can scarcely imagine what costume you have in store when her time comes. =D

  10. what a fun thing to do at your baby shower!

bun is a cute nickname. We changed the name depending on her size. In the beginning she was a buggie (like bug) and then she became a sea monkey and in autumn she was big enough that she was fittingly a pumpkin.

  14. LoL! Okay the pear costume really made me laugh. Your baby shower actually sounds really fun; I have a horror of showers being the last single in a sea of married-with-kids friends.

  16. Her fixation on fruit is cracking me up! What are you going to be at your retirement party or your 50th wedding anniversary party? A prune?

Those onesies are such a great idea. People gave my bun lots of really cute, dressy outfits that were never worn. Anything that can be barfed on, torn off, and thrown in the washer is the uniform!
