I have been left the duty of orchid caretaker as my parents are vacationing a month in Europe. So every few days I venture to their place and carefully and meticulously water and feed their over 100 orchid plants. I am not even exaggerating the amount of these plants they have... they are scattered around everywhere in their house, and it takes me close to two hours to go through them all. Usually by the second hour, I start wishing they just collected stamps, or anything else inanimate... heehee. Anyways, here are some pics of a few of them in bloom.
Wow, I love plants but if I had that many I think people would start to look at me funny. Over 100 orchids?! I do not envy you and your task of watering them all
My parents and your parents would get along famously... Mine gave me two plants a few years ago; they're still alive but have never flowered!!! Meanwhile, their place looks like this — gorgeous orchid heaven. Quite the responsibility you've got there :) Lovely photos!
Holy. Smokes. That's a lot of orchids! They're beautiful. I thought you had to have a greenhouse to keep them alive and well. Apparently not. Did you ever see Bernard and Doris with Susan Sarandon? Sad movie... lovely orchids. :)
I love orchids! I grow irises, and every year when it comes time to weed them I begin to question the sanity of having 6 separate patches of irises in the yard... weeding is quite daunting.
great shots - i love orchids!
ReplyDeletei'd be super paranoid about killing them, though. :)
oh my...gorgeous, but wow, I don't know if I could deal with that much work.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous plants! I think that'd be my worst nightmare b/c they'd all be dead when the 'rents got home!
ReplyDeleteWow, what an awesome responsibility! I've killed every orchid I ever had. They are so beautiful though. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThat is just crazy. I always admire the orchinds when i'm at the home depot but i had to settle for bamboo...which i managed to kill..
ReplyDeletei would kill them in a minute, but they are INCREDIBLE! at least it is hundreds of orchids, not hundreds of cats???? ;-) creepy.
