last day of pool

The official last day of outdoor swimming for us was yesterday - Kitsilano pool is now closed for the season... so now it does feel like summer is officially over... sigh. We managed to get to the pool quite a few times over the season, and I am glad to say we have actually improved at swimming!! I managed to swim the whole length this time non-stop (137 metres/150 yards)... which is big news, if you saw me at the beginning of this season flailing about, gasping for air. Until next year for the big 'ol pool.

ps. swing by Akane Designs's blog to check out the feature on Cabin + Cub, and enter the giveaway we are having over there too! Thanks Christina!

  2. That pool is HUGE! I understand your accomplishment. I learned to swim when I was 30 and am still not very good at it:) Bring on the Autumn!

  6. I'm surprised your pool closes so early! We close them up here at the beginning of Sept usually. Thought because it was warmer there your pools would be open much longer.
It is sad that summer is over - we are finally having warm weather.

  12. Wow, I wish I had a pool like that near me. What a wonderful backdrop. It's warming up here in Australia now and I can't wait to get back into the pool. I'm running at the moment but when it gets hot, I swim instead and try to get better at it :).

  13. So missing that pool and the beach beside it! :( It is kind of sad at the end of summer when the pool closes but kind of cozy and happy to me when the gorgeous leaves turn colour and look like colourful buntings draping the trees. Off to see your feature. xoxo

  16. It is interesting how pools so often mark the end of Summer. It really goes to show how much people love swimming. I know I was disappointed when I knew I wouldn't be going again this year!

  17. I'm jealous that you got to have so much pool time this summer. I rarely ever swim. It's partly because I've forgotten how to, but it's also because I'm paranoid my contacts are going to fall out...

  19. The pool looks really huge! I didn't know the pools will be closed once summer is over? It's hot here in Singapore throughout the year so the pools open everyday! Beautiful photos by the way.
