The hot summer months have been great for our tomato plant. I started out with super low expectations, but we have been enjoying a dozen of the little fellas for the past couple of weeks. And just when I thought, there were no more... a new batch of green ones have appeared... woohoo! Ok, this might not seem a big deal to the pro gardener, but this is a huge leap for us... last year our sad little plant only produced 3 cherry tomatoes and then died... R.I.P. Perhaps next year, I will try and up the challenge and have two plants... ooh... enough to make a pasta sauce!ps. come and check out the feature on Cabin + Cub on Studio M.M.E.'s blog! Thanks Megan! ReplyDeleteI have the sad little tomato plant this year. We've had exactly three cherry tomatoes like you said, and it's not looking promising that there will be more. Hopefully we'll have better luck next year!

ReplyDeleteCongrats to you on the maters, hee hee :) I totally understand. We have a few plants around the house that I am so proud of--especially our huge peace lily! I couldn't even keep a cactus alive in the past, so it's all about small victories. Pasta sauce would be great--hope you meet any green thumb challenges you set for yourself :)

ReplyDeleteYou have fresh tomatoes!!! I'm jealous. My plants are huge (23 plants), there are maybe 12 tomatoes between all the plants, they are grass green. We just don't have the heat to ripen them.

ReplyDeletei tried to grow tomatoes last year. i picked the prettiest yellow and pink stripe heirloom jawns i could find. the plant grew 5 feet tall, AND NEVER PRODUCED A SINGLE TOMATO>

Those look absolutely delicious! It makes me wish I had some fresh tomatoes to slice up, sprinkle with a little bit of salt, and devour. Congrats on the improvement from last year. I'd call that a successful harvest!

ReplyDeleteMy tomatoes usually turn out lumpy and oddly colored so I'm never quite sure if they're ripe of not. Your tomatoes look wonderful!

ReplyDeleteWe got a new puppy in the Spring and she has eaten almost all my tomatoes this year! I didn't even know a dog would do that. So next year I'm going to have to fence them off or something so she doesn't steal them.
