quaint quince
I feel like a fresh spring image today... so how about some quaint quince blossoms? I like these as much as cherry blossoms... ahhh... so fresh and pretty. I find I have to fight the urge even harder from taking a pair of shears to them though, since they grow lower down compared to the taller cherry trees (oh, they would look so fancy inside my house). But I will resist... I don't think all my neighbours would appreciate coming out to see a sad bare quince tree. Will continue my hunt around the neighbourhood for more fresh spring blossoms and blooms to share (and not to cut, of course).
I'm loving all the flowers right now, too, and I'm having the same problem - I want to cut all the tulips off and bring them home!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You know, I don't think I've ever seen a quince before!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Those are totally new to me, how lovely!
ReplyDeleteWow! Those are gorgeous. I never knew what they were before!
ReplyDeleteI applaud your restraint but I understand the temptation, maybe I need one of those in my garden too, :) T.
ReplyDeletegood will power :) those are so pretty! i don't think i've ever seen quince blossoms before.
ReplyDeletethere's a large old cherry tree i pass by every day on my walk to work and it's SO gorgeous right now, and every spring... i probably have about a hundred pictures over it from the past couple springs. i've never been temped to snip blossoms but i'm often temped to pick cherries off it in the summer! (there is one particular branch well within arms reach ;)
Yayyy!! Spring :) I love spring posts :) Those flowers are absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous! What an amazing color.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, I can see why you're tempted to bring them inside. :0)
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic photo ! The blossoms are perfect and the color...wow I'd love to have a dress that color. :)
ReplyDeleteQuince is such a pretty flower. I wonder if it grows in Southern California. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI love quince. I say bring some inside. Remember to smash up the woody stem to it can absorb water. I bring in blooms from my plum tree...
ReplyDeleteWonderful. Oen of my favourite spring flowers!
ReplyDeletewow! you're right! Just as beautiful as cherry blossoms!
ReplyDeleteo so pretty! i too had not heard of quince blossoms so am glad you shared them.
ReplyDeleteThose are gorgeous! You know, I don't think I've ever seen those before either, although I must have.
ReplyDeleteI almost never pick flowers anymore, since I've had at least two traumatic experiences with them... I remember being about 10 or so and picking a clump of cherry blossoms off a tree, and having a woman come out and yell at me. I don't think it was her personal tree, but I suppose it was the concept of everyone being able to enjoy the flowers! And then, just last spring, I decided to pick a trillium to put in my hair for a party... only to be informed by a botanist there that the slow-growing trilliums store all their nutrients in the flower and that you've basically destroyed years of work on the part of the plant by picking it. Wow, I felt like I'd just drowned a kitten! So, I applaud your restraint!
That color is just gorgeous...can see you roaming the neighbourhood asking people if they'd like a complimentary quince tree prune....
ReplyDeleteQuince, lovely flowers! Where I live...Georgia, everything is in bloom. Looks like Easter! Tulips, red bud trees, flowering pear trees, lovely ground covers.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness Quince is very lovely! I'm still waiting for our trees to blossom....hopefully soon!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely!
