for the record
My toddler's new obsession these days is our record player... a day does not go by without Jasper pointing at it and then gesturing towards our records. Seeing as how my hubby's old punk, hardcore, and metal records are not super baby friendly, and now our vintage Smurfs record is banned from any airtime in our house (yes, it is as annoying as one would expect), some of our other childhood ones are on constant rotation. The current fave right now is the Barbapapa record, or as Jasper calls it “Ba-ba”. Who knew our wee one would be so vinyl obsessed.

tune in!

Exciting news! Tune in today to CiTR Radio 101.9 FM in Vancouver and listen to my hubby Roger on NardWuar, the Human Serviette's Radio Show! They'll be chatting about local music and record stores from their youth. And who is NardWuar, you may ask? Well, you may know him from his music interviews on MuchMusic, or you may know him from the band The Evaporators... any which way... check out his site here, since he has some pretty awesome interviews with some musical celebrities. (The Snoop Dog interview is one of my faves -- see it under the Archived Interviews section).
Show is Friday, June 16th
3:30 - 5:00 pm (Pacific)

you make me feel

Recently I had the exciting opportunity of creating the artwork for Canadian country music singer Jessie Farrell and her new single. Not only did I get to do the artwork for the single, but I also got to do the artwork for the cute animated ecard that you can send to your friends, lovers, spouses, family... or whoever in your life. To experience the interactive illustration/ecard click on www.jessiefarrell.com and then click on the "Send Ecard" button - rolling over bits of the carnival picture will reveal little animations! And oh, you don't have to send an ecard to see the little animations... but why not share it eh? (Shameless plug, I know). And of course, best of all, listen to Jessie's new cute song too!

lykke li
So do you ever have a song track or album that you find yourself listening to in constant rotation? This is different from having a song stuck in your head (which is usually an annoying song one doesn't want to hear). In this case, I mean voluntary repetitive listening. For me right now it's Lykke Li's new album "Youth Novels". On recommendation from my Californian cousin, I went to the Lykke Li show here this past fall when she came to Richard's on Richards in Vancouver... and ever since I have been hooked! I listen to the album on headphones here at work, so I don't drive my office mates batty and make any enemies. Listen to some of her songs here.
