Down by the water near some of the Olympic pavilions, there are a series of temporary rock balanced sculptures. I have seen them near Stanley Park before, where artist Kent Avery will have dozens and dozens of balanced rocks, small and large beautifully balanced (i.e. no glue, or rods, etc... just rocks) and arranged along the shore... some of the stacks are balancing more than 8 rocks! Not sure it is the same artist, but they sure are beautiful to look at. Check out this cool video of the artist here.

here comes the sun

If you don't already know, I am a huuuge fan of the video game Rock Band. Yes, that's right... I have my own red Vic Firth drum sticks and everything (still working on the drumstick twirl, btw). So when I heard that Rock Band will be releasing a Beatles edition this September (09.09.09), I squealed in giddy delight. Even if you aren't a video game fan, but love the Beatles, watch the amazing trailer... it's beautiful and really well done. Watch it here. Wooohoo... I can't wait to be Ringo!

best game ever!
I am upping my geek factor and admitting that I am completely addicted to the Rock Band 2 game that I got in my Christmas stocking this year. And might I add, not only did I get the game, but I also got a pair of red Vic Firth drumsticks (hmmm... I guess you can figure out which is my favorite instrument to play). I think I scare my husband sometimes as I drum away and scream with glee whenever I unlock a new song. Maybe one day when we don't live in an apartment building, Santa will bring a drum kit.
