fuzzy little monsters

It is no secret that I like to make crafty things... so it was only a matter of time before my crafty preoccupations started influencing little Jasper's play time. But what craft to do when he is only two, and the thought of paint on the walls and carpet seemed a bit horrifying? Hurray for pompoms and google eyes! We had a fun afternoon making “fuzzy monsters” (his words by the way). Thanks to my friend Robin who had such a cute and easy idea (see her awesome blog Windy and Friends here). Hmmm... now what to do with two dozen fuzzy little monsters that keep popping up around the house....

crying over spilled milk

Meow meow meow... a new collage to share with you today! I never had a cat growing up, but we did have a dog for a little while – well, until it nipped me and we had to give it to another family. Anyways, no point in crying over spilt milk... well, unless you are the wee one in this collage. Bad kitty!

collage: buried treasure

As a kid, I always thought it would be exciting to find buried treasure. I think it was more of the idea of actually finding it, rather than its contents that was the thrilling part... I mean, what is a little kid going to do with a chest full of gold coins?... (unless they were the chocolate kind, of course). Hmmmm... now I think it is quite the opposite... I have quite a few ideas (no shortage of them, actually) lined up in case I find buried treasure... a gal can dream, right?

collage: in tangles

A new collage to share today... this one is called In Tangles. Thank goodness none of our lamps at home have a cord this long. I think our home is pretty tangle free... oh wait... there is still the hairdryer from time to time, oh yes and the seasonal Christmas lights, oh and then there is the rice cooker... uh, ok... I take the "tangle free" claim back.

collage: red balloons

A new collage to share with you today! I remember being very upset as a little kid when I would lose a ballon and see it float away high up in the sky... worst feeling ever. I wish I had a bird friend to bring them back to me. Or, at least if the bird didn't bring them back, it would have been reassuring to know that it was enjoying the newly found balloons.

finally friday!

Hooray! It is finally Friday! This week felt like it was dragging by really slow, I thought I'd never see the weekend. So to celebrate today, without saying TGIF (ugh... I hate that expression, but I guess I just said it!) why not a fun collage... perhaps a one gun/one arrow salute. Hmm... not sure what it would sound like... maybe kapow, kapow, twang, twang? Ok, so sound effects are not my forte.

Anyhoo, also wanted to send thanks and hugs to some wonderful bloggers and blogs who have featured some of my items!
· to Casa Cullen for featuring my cork coaster set
· to Caren from buttercupped for featuring my little rainy day collage

collage: caramel friends

It has been awhile since I have posted a new collage... so why not today? I thought this one would be appropriate this morning, since I am slowly packing up our house of the leftover holiday things (yes, a little late... but tree chipping isn't until this weekend, so we have left things up)... the tree decorations are coming down, stockings unhung, wreath stored away... and caramel apples fed to the baby birds. Okay, I am kidding about the last part, I'm not actually feeding caramel to birds... so please don't get all PETA on me... it is just a collage. Now I have to go and break the news to Mr. Christmas Tree about the upcoming chipping party.

collage: girl and balloons

Hooray for the weekend, it's finally here! It feels like a good balloon day today... something to cheer me up from this grey and gloomy weather we are having... bleh. Hope everyone has a fun and great weekend!

ps. Be sure to check back on Monday.... it will be the first day to my October giveaway!!!

collage: capturing deer

I love taking photos... and the hubby, well he loves it even more than I do. We are saving up to try and get a Nikon SLR camera (dreamy sigh)... that is high on our wish list right now. I get giddy just thinking of having one. Can you imagine how many deer I could capture with a Nikon in my hands ?... the answer is lots. Let me know what you shoot with and how you find it! Happy Weekend!

collage: schoolyard bird fight

We just got back yesterday from our long weekend camping trip in the Okanagan... (I'll post those photos tomorrow)! Today is officially the first day of school here... but seeing as how I'm not in school any more, I thought it still would be suiting to have at least a school themed collage posted. Well, ok, technically this one is more of a schoolyard fight theme, than purely a school theme... but the fight is amongst the birds and not the kids, and it's more of a verbal disagreement than a true battle of the birds.

Since we were away for a few days, also wanted to share some features from the weekend... thanks to Koralee for featuring my mini cards on her blog Bluebird Notes and Bri for posting one of my collages on her blog the craft begins.

collage: catching butterflies

It's the last few days of August, and autumn is coming up fast... so perfect day to enjoy a summer collage while we can! I have never tried to catch butterflies before... the idea of it always makes me think of Jane Austen-type scenarios where girls in hoop skirts gallivant through tall grass and laugh in the shimmering sun, as they unsuccessfully chase dozens of the colorful winged creatures, whilst taking breaks for tea and cakes. Hmmm... doesn't sound half bad... anyone up for some butterfly catching this afternoon?

ps. some more blog features this week - thanks to Carol for featuring one of my birdy collage on her blog That is Charming and also thanks to Gay for featuring my bookplates on her blog I Dreamed I Saw.

collage: boy and rain drops

After what seemed like endless weeks and weeks of dry and hot sunny weather, the Vancouver rain has made a comeback. Just when I was getting used to my summer dresses and strappy sandals and learning to love my ugly ceiling fan, everything just had to go and shift on me.... ugh! Hopefully, this will just be a quick summer shower... there are only weeks left of outdoor swimming, bbqs and beach walks before the first leaf falls!... ack... where has the time gone!

collage: boy and balloons

Hooray! One of my collages has been included in the children's section of the Etsy Gift Guide! The collage was inspired by one of my favorite movies of all time, Albert Lamorisse's 1956 short film Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon)... I get all sappy whenever I see it. Someone has actually posted the entire film online... so sit back and enjoy it here. It will make your heart warm.

Also thanks to purplepinkandorange.com for picking one of my collages to be on of their $25 and under score!

collage: girl and balloons

Happy sunny day = balloon collage day! There is a bit of a heat wave going on in Vancouver right now, so it has been sunny and bright for the last little while with temperatures creeping higher and higher. I think all this extra vitamin D is making me a little giddy (I hope it's not actually sun stroke). All this good weather is almost making me forget it's a regular monday morning... I may actually forgo the coffee...

collage: the ultra shy squirrel

Shhhhh... be very very quiet and limit any quick movements, since this little fella is ultra shy and timid. He is so bashful in fact, that he is going to hide behind his bushy tail when you try to say hello.

Oh and he also wants to remind everyone that there are only three days left in the giveaway, so come on by and enter for your chance to win. Happy Friday!

collage: roller skate girl and bird

One life skill, if you can call it that, that I have never properly learned is how to roller skate. As a kid, I remember going to a few tortuous birthday parties at the local Stardust - an old roller rink here, that is now long gone. I would spend most of the time on the floor and very rarely on my feet, while everyone else seemed to do loopy-di-loops in crazy circles backwards (yes, at the time I was sooo jealous!) Fast forward a decade when I briefly tried rollerblading... um yah, not for me... I never learned how to stop properly and managed to injure myself on a small handicap ramp... enough said.

Oh, and if you haven't already.. stop on by and enter my July giveaway! ;)

collage: feeding the foxes

Once when we were at Stanley Park here in Vancouver, we observed a group of tourists feeding and taking pictures of raccoons. A woman held out some doritos in her hand and the raccoon hissed (horror movie style) and snatched them from her... and she laughed!... um.. ever hear of rabies, lady?... not so funny. Their tour bus driver, who also saw that this was happening too, thankfully told them to stop. Not sure what will happen to this guy in the collage... perhaps I should have made this one a two parter... the first one where he has an arm, and the second one without.

happy canada day!

Hip - hip - hooray!... Happy Canada Day everyone! A little red and white collage today to celebrate. We will be dressing up today like Canadian Mounties and eating maple syrup, and bacon while glugging beer... just kidding!! (Although I could go for some bacon right now). It's sunny today and we have the day off, so we are off for a nice bike ride... perhaps will check out some of the celebratory events happening around town. It already feels like Friday and its only Wednesday... yay!

collage: girl and balloons

A little cute balloon collage for this sunny Monday morning. Even though it is the start of the week, I am excited that it will be a shorter work week, since Canada Day falls on the Wednesday.... yay! It probably would have been nicer if it actually fell on the Monday or Friday to make it a long weekend, but a day off is a day off, so I am not going to complain!

Also want to thank kate8085 for featuring the cabin + cub tote bag on her lovely blog over the weekend!

collage: oh dear, there goes the deer

So on the local news the other day, there was an announcement made to discourage people from having baby deer as pets. Apparently, many baby deer are mistaken to be abandoned (the mothers leave them for up to 24 hours and then return), but in fact they are actually fine. The thing that struck me as odd is that there must be enough people keeping these deer for themselves to run a news cast about it... weird. The thought of a deer in my 2 bedroom condo, or any house for that matter, seems like a bad idea - ummm... leaping and kicking wild animal mixed in with walls and furniture... yikes.
