water flowers

The pond at Van Dusen Botanical Garden is wall to wall lilly pads... it almost feels like you can walk across them (but, please don't try). We didn't spot any frogs on our stroll across the wooden bridge, but did spot some gorgeous blooms hidden amongst the green pads. I almost thought they were fake (they aren't). Hope everyone is having a Happy Monday!

That looks lovely! It's always fun to get close to nature, isn't it?
There's a place that my parents used to drag me & my sister to in the summers, and I went up there for the first time in ages recently. It's basically a dirt road with a lake on both sides in the middle of a farm. Anyway, there were a fair amount of lilypads, some little fishes swimming by the road, some swans, and a pair of herons (and, of course, cows) and lots of song birds. It was a really neat trip.

We used to have those all over the lake in the summer. I tried to bring them back to the cabin but most of em had little tiny black bugs all over the petals and my mother would get angry lol. Gorgeous flowers.

I've had that same thought about water lilies too... especially when you see the bright yellow part in the middle, they look like plastic! Hope you are enjoying the great weather. :)

Lovely photo to cool down the heat of this summer. Reminds me of paintings by Vincent van Gogh, very soft and tranquil.

This is wonderful. I've always loved water lilies. They seem kind of magical, growing in the water like they do. :)

I love water plants. Have you ever seen the old Victorian black and white pictures of women dressed to the nines, all standing on huge lily pads with parasols etc? It's neat. :)
