pretty petals

Our patio garden is slowly perishing as the weather is getting colder, so we're having to enjoy our indoor plants now. Just got this pretty orchid from the parents, who are orchid obsessed... er, I mean orchid aficionados. I am glad they are really into orchids and not spider plants - not that there is anything wrong with those plants - they're just not as exciting, in my eyes, as these pretty petals.

A pretty pic to share with you today. My parents (orchid fanatics) brought us over this lovely guy last week when we had them over for a lunch... isn't' he pretty? Ohhhh... the responsibility... things are going well so far, he is well fed and watered and seems to be adjusting to his new home quite well. I haven't named him yet... any suggestions?... Mr. Yellow Orchid, doesn't seem to cut it.

This is my final week of doing orchid watch for my parents while they are away on holiday... hooray... they are coming back this week! I think I need a holiday from all these flowers... the tedium of watering their over 100 plants is starting to wear on me... it's been a whole month. The other good news?... the flowers are all still alive and well.... phew!

I have been left the duty of orchid caretaker as my parents are vacationing a month in Europe. So every few days I venture to their place and carefully and meticulously water and feed their over 100 orchid plants. I am not even exaggerating the amount of these plants they have... they are scattered around everywhere in their house, and it takes me close to two hours to go through them all. Usually by the second hour, I start wishing they just collected stamps, or anything else inanimate... heehee. Anyways, here are some pics of a few of them in bloom.
