if the shoe fits

Yes, I have a huuuuge thing for shoes... oh and boots too. I saw these cute boots last year in a store and had been regretting not getting them all year long... so when I saw them again recently, there was no hesitation. Anyways, I thought I would share my cute and comfy finds. :)

last week of winter

Oh, so tired from springing forward... zzzzzzzz ... I don't think I was ready to give up that one hour yet! This week is the last week of winter, so I thought I would share some last few winter wonderland shots Roger took while he was up at Cypress Mountain this weekend. Enjoy the snowy pics! Happy Monday!

chirp chirp

The sun was out yesterday, so baby Jasper and I went for a nice stroll... and we actually saw some flowers blooming and heard some birds chirping!... we didn't actually see the little chirpers though. I am thinking maybe that little groundhog (Punxsutawney Phil) might be on to something... maybe Spring will come early!

hot chocolate day

Oh, it is one of those grey-ish days today... actually, it has felt like one of those grey-ish weeks this whole week. (I need some sunshine!) My solution? Hot chocolate... and in a very large mug. I'm sure there is an official "Hot Chocolate Day" already on the calendar somewhere out there, and if there is, I would like to propose it be changed to Hot Chocolate Week! Ok, now back to sipping my chocolate-y goodness.

winter stop

It snowed here yesterday morning, but as fast as it was here, it was all gone by the afternoon. So instead of the standard snowscape to share with you today... I thought I would share some public art blanketed in light snow (this installation is part of the Vancouver Biennale). It reminds me that we should all just stop and enjoy the fleeting moments of the snowfall.

craft show hangover

It has finally come and gone... the big One of a Kind show was last week, and I can finally let out a big sigh of relief! To be honest, I am pretty exhausted... I feel like I have craft show hangover. The four day show (plus the two days of set-up and take-down) were starting to make me feel a bit batty. My feet are sore and my smile hurts... I guess I am not destined to work in retail, huh? Here are some pictures of our craft collective's booth – the other two crafty companies forming the Hob Snobs Craft Collective being Track and Field Designs and The Beautiful Project (so, yah that is why you can see some other very cute crafty items in the pics too). Thanks to everyone who came out to the show and visited our booth! And now some time to relax... oh wait, the holidays are coming!!! Eeeeeek! Where does the time go????!!!

got craft?

I can't believe it is finally here... my first holiday show for the season... oh, where has the time gone! Apologies for not blogging more lately... I have been in crazy production mode this past few weeks (and I have the craft explosion in my house to prove it). This weekend I will be at Got Craft in Vancouver, featuring 50 local handmade artists, a DIY table and free swag bags for the first 45 people through the door. Yes, you read that right FREE SWAG! But do come early if you are trying to claim one of the 45 swag bags... there is quite a line-up every year... and no one wants to see two craftistas wrestle over the last bag whilst wielding knitting needles... that would be very un-holiday like. Hope to see you there!!

Here are the details:

GOT CRAFT
Vancouver's largest indie craft fair featuring 50 local handmade artists.
Sunday December 5th
10:00 am - 5:00 pm

snow snow snow!

So would you believe that we have had our first snow fall already! This past weekend we woke up to a pleasant surprise. It usually never snows very much here in the city (on the local North shore mountains, yes, but not too much here)... and especially this early! Time to dig out all the scarves, boots, and mitts! Hooray for snow, snow, snow!

the snow is coming

The sky is grey today and all the forecasts on TV are warning of snow, snow and more snow. All this build up and anticipation is killing me. My parents must be even more anxious and excited, since I noticed that they bought a small snow blower the last time I was over at their place. (*Note: it never really snows that much here to warrant a snow blower, but my dad likes his gadgets, so I am not going to argue). I am going to remember the gorgeous skies of this past week, since it has been sunny, crisp and bright out almost every day... well, up until today. Will be posting pics of our tree next week when it is all decorated and not naked! Have a happy weekend!

ps. My December giveaway (the last giveaway of the year) starts this coming Monday, so don't miss it!

can you spot him?

On my way to the post office the other day, I spotted this little fella. At first he scampered up the tree, but then when I got my camera out, he stood on the branch and turned around as if getting ready to pose! Sorry it's a wee bit blurry, but he was really quick... and I,well, I'm not as quick. Isn't he cute!?

too early to start decorating?

So I am tempted to start decorating our place for the holidays, but part of me thinks it's still a wee bit early. One of the things I want to get soon are those branches with the little red berries one them (the inedible poisonous ones... I think they call them sparkle berries??)... I keep passing them by when I walk by the florist, and they look too good to pass up. Hmmmm.. maybe I can phase in the decorating slowly over the month... keep the tree at bay for a few more weeks. Anyone start decorating yet?

ps. don't forget to come and visit me at the Toque Art + Craft Fair tonight and Saturday! See details here.

sleeping with socks

It is official... we have turned on the heat in our apartment and are flicking on the gas fireplace almost every night and morning. I am now sleeping with socks on. Just when I was getting used to the mild autumn days... it's time to break out the scarves and mittens. Unfortunately, or fortunately (depending on your opinion of the white stuff) it has yet to snow here... only crazy deluges of rain and high winds (this is Vancouver for you). There was a short glimmer of sun and sliver of blue sky this morning... it's now gone. Rain, rain, go away.

ps. don't forget to enter my giveaway to win a $20 Cabin + Cub gift certificate... last day to enter is Sunday!
