naked no more

Hooray... our tree is naked no more! Here he is in all his glory. Every year we go against the color-coordinated Martha-inspired designer-looking trees and opt for the old school, mismatched, "let's try to fit every ornament and bauble we have onto one tree" methodology. After inheriting so many of them from our parents and grandparents... the odd ornament combo (some from the 60s/70s/80s), mixed in with some handmade ones thrown into the mix seem to work. Ok... so some of the ornaments are worse for wear.. the glitter is slowly coming off, or I have had to redraw some on some of the eyes for some of the characters, but we love it, and I think the tree really loves it too.

ps. don't forget to enter my December giveaway here to win a calendar! :)

Trees are supposed to match. Last year my family even put up one string of white lights and one string of color lights because the Grinch had stolen our other lights away, leaving us with only one of each. It looked very unusual but I think the tree enjoyed it. Your tree looks adorable.

I hate matchy matchy trees...I love Christmas trees that show off the personality of the decorators...Our's is a little bit too matchy right now, but it's our first, so we haven't collected enough stuff yet to make it good.

I'm with you (you will see soon :) We mix and match too! I think it is so exciting to remember the history in the ornament and how it relates to family :) Lovely colourful tree, regards, T. :)

Great looking tree! I think a lot of people do odds & ends for their Trees I know I did with a lot of ornaments I got from my mom when I moved into my own home.

The little odds and ends like that give a tree character! Ours is all decked out in red, blue, and gold with a couple of miniature French horns, a Darth Vader ornament, and a Bluetick Coonhound ornament.

I'm totally with you on the miss-matched tree! We have ornaments that have been collected over the last 20 years, some the boys made when they were little :)
Matching decorations is over rated.

Nice tree. It's a lot taller than mine and looks very decorative. I posted my tree on my blog yesterday.

Love the A&W Rootbeer bear... we used to have tons of those kicking around, but I'm not sure where they've gone to! Your tree looks beautiful and full. Mine looks very "charlie brown" in comparison :)
