white christmas

Just to clarify, this is not how I would dress up during the holiday season. Roger and I went to see Arts Club Theatre's White Christmas at the Stanley quite a few weeks ago... it was a bit too early to blog about it (I think it may have been November?!) so I am bringing it up now. I have never seen the original movie before, let alone the theatrical version, but it was very cute, entertaining and did get me into the holiday cheer a whole month ahead. I must admit though, classic Christmas songs are all good and everything, but I kind of like the duet of Bing Crosby and David Bowie à la Little Drummer Boy and Boney M's Christmas a bit better, but I guess that would be a very weird musical if they all came together.

Samantha and I always try to watch White Christmas for the holidays. It's a big tradition on her side of the family. Since you liked it, I would suggest checking out the movie version. It's fun, Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye (not sure on those spellings...), and they are great. What a voice on Crosby!

Happy holidays! I've been sick'sh and quiet lately. Still reading though! :)

You haven't seen the original movie? Sacrilege! It's the one movie I HAVE to watch each year around Christmastime!

Always fun to appreciate the theater :) Cheesy attire, I agree!

I can't believe you haven't seen the original movie either, it is awesome, soppy but romantic.

Our tradition as a family is to watch "Christmas Vacation" with Chevvy Chase :) So, funny, some great lines.

Have a wonderful day, regards, T.

P.S. I do think those Santas partied last night :)

I just saw White Christmas for the first time this year too. Bing Crosby's voice sure does hold up after all those years.

That sounds like fun! If you enjoy non-traditional holiday songs, you might be interested in the playlist I posted on my blog. I think it's got some great songs, but my opinion may be just a tad bit biased. ;-)~

White Christmas is my favorite holiday film so I agree with the rest - you must see it! :D

I can't say I've seen it either - but it's now added to my list. But "Its A Wonderful Life" with Jimmy Stewart is an all time fave.

we went to see it too and it was good - but weird... after years of studious eye-rolling when it came on tv as a kid/teen/young adult, i discovered it a few years ago in my retro-christmas mood and i have a soft spot for it, in all it's weirdness... i was all confused because there were extra songs, odd changes, etc... but still pretty entertaining. did you catch the hideous vintagey diaper shorts that the backup dancers were wearing? those cracked us up... ;-)

Oh man, I'd love to see a production of that! I didn't know there was a theater version.
I do love the movie, but that's about the end of my traditional Christmas movies--the rest are weird, like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and The Jacket, rounded off by You've Got Mail.
