some assembly required

Roger and I are usually pretty good at assembling furniture... but I think we have met our match. We have started to assemble Bun's crib, and it is taking a wee bit longer than anticipated. After a false start (since the instructions were missing and we had to get them from the manufacturer), things are slowly progressing. I couldn't even fit all the pieces into these pictures, there are so many - these are just 1/5 of them shown here. Hopefully in the next few days, I will have a pic of a completed crib to share with you!

Oh goodness, I don't envy you at all. When I moved my boyfriend out of his apartment we had to take his desk apartment. It separated into no less than 20 pieces. That was too much for me. We shipped it off to a thrift store because neither of us wanted to put it back together...ever. Good luck!

Is it Ikea? They always make it sound like it's the easiest thing but we always end up with extra scews and pegs!

I remember doing this when I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. In August. With an enormous belly. And a temperamental cat that would hiss at you when you tried to get him off of the scattered pieces on the floor. Good times :)

I remember those days!! I think it's to prepare you for the baby who doesn't come with directions..or at least it's how we felt!

I put together a lingerie chest last fall that was unduly complicated.

I finally had to get out the drill and make all the holes larger so that I could actually get the screws in - what a maddening experience!

Oh, furniture!

Wow! You've got your work cut out for you there. Looking at the pile of parts, I can't even picture the final project. Can't wait to see it!

Um, are you sure you didn't get the "Build a Space Shuttle" kit by accident?

Yowsa, good luck. I have enough trouble WITH the instructions. I applaud your patience for waiting until the manufacturer sent them.

What drives me crazy are the directions, especially when they just "assume" that we already know you've got to put part AB, into part CD (held together with 2 gig-a-ma-jigs) BEFORE you bolt together part 1A to 2AB ! It's like something vital was lost in translation.
