neglectful me

Ok, I have been a very bad neglectful blogger. This past week just flew by without a post... eek! There was some reasoning to it... I had a birthday (hooray!), and then this past weekend was Thanksgiving up here in Canada, so it has been back to back feasting and family visits. And now it is officially catch up time - time to catch up on the blog, work, and craft making for the upcoming shows... so much to do, so little time!

oh gourd-ness!

I hope everyone up here in Canada had a great Thanksgiving long weekend! We had a great weekend with family and visits (ie. ate lots and lots and then complained about it afterwards), as well as enjoyed the very autumn-ey weather (woo-hoo, fall sweater time!). Thought I would share a pic of some gourd branches my sweet friend Carley (check out her blog Secret Squirrel) gave me the other day... aren't they pretty?... they almost look like tomatoes. Not sure if they are edible or not... I am thinking not... it always seems the prettiest plants tend to be the most poisonous and non-edible. Perhaps it's their way of luring prey in... mwahahahaha.

lazy sunday and bloggy awards (part 2)

Lazy Sunday today... I think a good day to take it easy and mill around.. maybe craft if I can muster up enough energy. Perhaps even take a neighbourhood stroll to see what other spring things are blooming.

Ok, so I need to mention two wonderful blogs who have passed along a lovely blog award lately. A happy thanks to Beecher at P.S. House and Kate from Kate and Oli for the Happy 101 Blog Award. 7. travelling to far and away places, although short closer trips make me happy too

8. my shiny red lowrider bicycle - all the kids on the block turn their heads when they see it!

9. sleeping in on the weekends in warm puffy blankets

10. snowboarding on a perfect day, although this will have to wait until next year now that I have Bun

too much information

How fun!... I was tagged by kate8085 of Where Eagles Dare (thanks!) a few days ago in the theme of eight , and thought what a great way to share some random facts. So to accompany the random lists is a flashback image of one of my old random collages (circa sometime in the 90s... eek!) so here goes...

8 things I am looking forward to:

· seeing my hubby when he gets home from work everyday

· going camping this weekend... yay!

· getting a new high end printer, so that I can start making art prints

· going on our next big foreign vacation (went to Vietnam this year, next one is still tbd)

· the release of Where the Wild Things Are movie

· sleeping in on weekends

· starting a little family

· buying a house with a porch one day, with a separate studio and small yard for a garden

8 things I did yesterday:

· worked on more collages

· worked on an illustration and cd design for a client

· tended to the garden (it's a patio garden, so that didn't take very long)

· one load of laundry (whites) in our new machine that I am obsessed with.. yay front-loaders!

· online banking

· listened to Lykke Li

· dug out some camping equipment for the weekend

· went for tea at the local coffee shop with my hubby

8 things I wish I could do:

· travel all the time

· live past 100

· speak french fluently

· play the drums like a superstar

· be a better swimmer

· eat whatever i wanted and not gain any weight

· cook like a chef

· do big air tricks on my snowboard

· Arrested Development (on DVD, since its now over... sadness)

Wow.. this week has been full of surprises. Two bloggy awards I wanted to mention... I received the Honest Scrap award from AMIdesigns a few days ago.. thanks! Here are the details:

There are a few requirements and they are as follows:

I woke up yesterday morning and found one of my little collages "catching butterflies", featured on Decor8's Favorite 8! How exciting! I am a big fan of  Holly's blog... so much eye candy, inspirational and beautiful things featured daily, and many familiar etsians as well. Check out the posting here.

woodburning spotted

This week, I spotted one of my little birdy woodburnings on Ali Edward's design blog. I am so happy to be included in her new baby's room. The room is so cute and cozy with its orange, white, and yellow palette and features a mix of vintage and new pieces, as well as some other etsy finds. See more pictures of the beautiful room here.

How very exciting! My collage and a couple of my notebooks have been featured on Poppytalk today as part of the New Affordable Art features. It is one of my most favorite blogs and is from Vancouver too! I can't help but to gush about the great things that come out of this city.
