the bear up there

I love the neighborhood we live in (Mount Pleasant, aka South Main). One of the best things, I find, is discovering the weird quirks and oddities in the area. Which brings us to the giant 7 foot tall chrome bear statue that sits on top of the roof of a local optometrist's office. I walk by it quite often, and one day I noticed they had given him a new pair of shades!... makes sense.

That's a cool bear! I love it when businesses use their existing decor and add a little to it. There's a car repair shop that had 1/2 a Corvette on it. They put in a Santa waving and have it illuminated at CHristmas and there's a drilling compnay here that have an oil drill that they decorate as a deer for Christmas. It is of course, raing and lowering it's head!

That's too funny!! Does make perfect sense though, they are always telling people to wear shades.

Strange decision to have that bear there..... seems like something you might more likely see in LA! Quirky and unusual is good :)

haha! Love the bear! When I lived in Kansas City I remember a small shop that had a giant angry bull and four large frightened chickens on the roof! I think they sold furniture?
