the golden touch
Not sure if you have seen this, but Vancouver's Science World has erected a gold-covered billboard at Granville and 4th Avenue (at the entrance of Granville Island) to advertise their newest summer exhibition "Treasure!". The billboard uses two ounces of real 22-karat gold pounded into a thin sheet which covers approximately 200 square feet. Yes... you read right... real gold. Roger took this pic on his way to work, and as you can see the lovely billboard also comes with a 24hr security guard... although how anyone would steal a 200 sq ft billboard, I have no idea.

haha .. this is awesome!
Where did they come up with that idea??? Poor security guard standing in the rain. LOL
I can just imagine a helicopter coming in and taking it! With cartoon characters on board! LOL
Have a great day!
Well it would make for a rather big necklace pendant. :D
But great post, gets one thinking, hmm.
I can't believe some people are spending that money in something so stupid, instead in a real need..
Love!
xxx
and if they did steal it they would only get two ounces of gold. Ha!!
That's a creative form of advertisement! Wish I could see the exhibit.
That's both strange and pretty cool lol
I'd love to see someone try to steal that!!
Cool! You know somebody is plotting on how to take that home right this very minute. Thanks for sharing :)
I was wondering how they'd keep people from trying to steal it- glad you addressed that. :-) So cool!
I wonder what that exhibition would be like? I've been wanting to find a way to get my mitts on some of this edible food spray (in gold!).

Wow...just a little extravagant! xo
LOL! i'd love to hear that news story....
that poor security guard!
2 oz? That's crazy! That sounds like a cool exhibit, though.
wow that's a bit over the top! a security guard? that's just nuts!
LOL. so cool.
i'm home and catching up on reads! i've missed your blog :)
hope you have an amazing weekend!
j.
Isn't amazing what ad people come up with :)
Have a wonderful Weekend, T. :)
Crazy! That is one expensive billboard! What an odd job to guard that thing :)
Okay, so now there could be a whole new craft: billboard art.
What would you do with your billboard? You could do a very cool collage! I'd crochet a huge doily to cover mine--with some gigantic hand-blown glass beads/ornaments for decoration.
What would Martha Stewart do with hers?
This idea is pretty insane yet fun, anyway the guard doesn't look very happy about the idea though.
Yeah and what would you do with it if you stole it...?
