a trip to the tropics - part 2

Ugh... rain and clouds again here today... so time for part 2 pics from our visit to the Bloedel Floral Conservatory the other week for a quick mini trip to the tropics (see part 1 here). They have the strangest plants there... oh, yes, and beautiful ones of course. I can't help snapping pics of the weird ones though. The first one reminds me of a muppet character... every time I look at it, I have an urge to go back and tape googly-eyes to it.... hmmm, but that might be considered a form of vandalism. Anyhoo, happy weekend everyone! We are still in the waiting game for little Bun... (I hear first time babies tend to be late.... hmmmm).

Oh thank you AGAIN for these! Our weather man said we'd had 20 days straight of rain, add today and make it 21! And that doesn't even count all the rain we had through winter and spring! Oy!

:D

The chenille plant is a fun oddity in the plant world, all kind of soft and fuzzy. You are right it does remind me also of one of the muppets, let's see was it Animal ?

Yes first time babies seem to take their time coming, or maybe that's because with the first one we are all so excited and just can't wait to hold the little one in our arms. But as my mom told me many years ago, when the apple is ripe it will fall. Yeah tell that to a woman 9 1/2 months pregnant. :D

I remember looking through my mom's houseplant book when I was a kid and pointing out all the weird ones. I think the muppet plant was one of them.

Supposed to be a nice weekend, now that I'm back in town of course! Blue skies in Richmond at the moment...

Enjoy your weekend while you await baby's arrival. :)

The first one DOES look like it needs a set of eyes! Maybe just photoshop it and not risk an arrest!

Beautiful pictures. Here's hoping that by today (Sunday) you're no longer playing the waiting game but are, in fact, new parents!
