etsy wedding event

Recently I was invited to submit a cake topper as part of Etsy’s Weddings event! The media event was showcasing an array of cake toppers, invitations, wedding gifts and bridal accessories. Take a peek at my Heart Trees Cake Topper in the pic…. I love how they paired it with a tree slice tray/cake stand. Hmmm... I might just have to go out and get a tree slice now to use in future craft shows.

oh canada!

A new item in the shop this spring… the Canada map and pin set! This has been long overdue… it was in the works forever, and then life things just kept popping up (ahhh, babies will do that). Available in five different colour options, it is a perfect map for pinning your northern adventures, EH? Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing that in (and since I am Canadian, technically it is allowed).

etsy pop-up at west elm

Some exciting event news for the month of May. My little shop, along with 17 other Vancouver Etsy shops have been chosen (by Jan of Poppytalk) to be part of the Etsy Pop-Up shop at West Elm!

Join us on Saturday, May 25th from 1pm - 6pm at the West Elm store and West Elm Market (next door) in Vancouver.

And for those of you wondering, “but aren't you due to have a baby around then?”... the answer is yes. So if you do happen to make it to the event, it will be my lovely sister who will be filling in for me that day. So no worries, no woman going into labour at the event. :)

For a full list of vendors and more show info, check out the Poppytalk post here as well as the West Elm blog post here.

boutique chic

These past months have been very exciting on the retail front... boutiques here and there have been picking up some of my line.

I just got this cute picture from one of my newest stockists, Boutique Jérôme in Montreal... and I am in love with the display! Love, love, love the raw wood (are you really that surprised?).

Here is a complete list of my awesome stockists... visit them and support independent local business if they are near you!

more to top it off

Last week, I posted some new wedding cake topper designs I have been working on. Here are a couple more designs to add to the mix. The first one is for the deer-ly beloved couple (yes, I am a total nerd for using that pun, but it had to be done), and the second one comes as a set of five trees with heart branches. Check them out in the Etsy shop here. Happy Monday!

new cake toppers!

For a little while, it seemed like all our friends and family were getting married right, left, and centre. I think one of the busiest summers for us (besides when we had Jasper, of course) was the summer a few years ago when we went to four different weddings.

So, ok, putting it out there to my other non-married friends and family in relationships (you know who you are)... I need a new wave of weddings to go to soon. Hee hee. Hmmm... maybe I should start thinking about wedding crashing...

Anyways, just in time for this upcoming wedding season... a new line of bamboo cake toppers! Here are three of my new designs... elephants (for the event to never forget), squirrels (for the couples who are nuts for each other), and birds (lovebirds, of course). Check them out in my Etsy shop here.

showtime synergy

Ok, so these don't actually twinkle. And yes, that was a very 80's reference there in the post title (from the very awesome yet cheesy cartoon Jem, if you didn't get the reference). But just thought these little cuties needed a title with some flair. These are my new laser cut bamboo star earrings... ta-da! Now here in my Etsy shop. Now if I can just get them to summon holographic imagery on demand like in that cartoon.....

OMG... I'm the Etsy featured seller!!

Ok, I am finally posting this exciting news... it has been quite a busy weekend. I am the featured seller this weekend on Etsy!!! (Yes I did the biggest happy dance, if you were wondering,.... as in full on running man with transition to sprinkler - sorry for the scary visuals). It still feels like a crafty dream. The feature will be up for one more day (running Nov 9-11th) so swing by and check out the article here.

ps. if you happen to be in Vancouver today, swing by the
Make It Vancouver. I will be there selling my crafty things. :)

bye bye birdie... time for a sale!

I love wood burning, but alas it has come time for me to retire my little wood burned panels. I have been making them for years, but now I am shifting focus on to my laser cutting items and collages. So what to do with the panels I have left in stock?.... have a sale! All wood burned panels small and large are now 50% off! Check out the sale here!

bamboo brooches - part 2

Hooray it is Friday! Almost time to kick back and relax.... so I figure, how about sharing some cute eye candy with you today. Here are some more designs of bamboo brooches I designed recently... this batch taking on an animal/bird direction. Sigh, I love bird-y things... I can't seem to get enough of them.

i was found!

Hooray! Hooray! I was floored on Monday when I found out that my Map + Pin Set was featured in the Etsyversary Etsy Finds! This is the first time I have been in Etsy Finds... so yes, I danced on the spot a little... ok, ok, a lot. And yes, I'm talking full on running man with a gradual fade transition into the cabbage patch. I would have done the robot too, but I am not very good at it.

around the world

I have always loved tracking things on maps... I even had an etsy map for awhile where I would put pins in wherever I would ship my etsy sales (see here). So taking that as inspiration, I created a series of map print and pin sets. Each print is 8.5 x 11" and comes with 10 little map pins... there is even a white titling box for individuals to customize their map. What could the map track?... perhaps places you have travelled... places you want to travel... family members around the world... or even your own etsy map. Check them out in my etsy shop here!

new tiny venture

Not sure what possessed me to do it (temporary insanity?)... but I had been thinking of it for awhile. Ta-da! I am launching my new etsy shop called Tiny Cub! For awhile now I have been itching to do more illustration work and create a line of stationary that was separate from Cabin + Cub. No worries... my original store still exists and will keep on going... I just felt the need to have a separate storefront to focus on paper-y things. Here are a set of cards in the shop right now (yes, you will notice that tote bag design from the last post has been resurrected into card form). I will post more of my new mini cards later this week!

pin me

I have started listing a few of the hand drawn wood brooches that I posted about earlier this month. You may notice from the picture, that in addition to raincloud pins, I also started making a series of floral designs, as well as feather designs. And after much deliberation, I decided to package them all onto different coloured card stock. Check them out in my etsy shop here... they'll be popping up in the shop all week.

counting the days

Hooray! It is finally done and now available in the shop... the Cabin + Cub 2011 desk calendar! The new calendar features 12 months of a selection of my favourite mixed media collages... and yes, it comes with a nifty little wooden easel stand too (uh, did I just write the word "nifty"... I guess I did). Don't you want one for your desk now? Check it out in the shop here. :)

clickety click

Ok, so you all know by now that I am obsessed with all things Barbapapa, and that I have posted a lot on my growing collection of Barba-things. Well, who knew I could find one of my fave vintage cartoon characters on Etsy! I don't think I ever hit that "Add to Cart" button so fast (has anyone every had a mouse-clicking injury before? haha). So, after a clickety-click, I now have a new bag... now acting as a diaper bag (yes, that's right... I am starting my baby off early on Barbapapa collecting too). Check out the cute etsy store, Ella Osix, here to see more cute bags.

for the bookworm

In preparation for the nursery, Roger and I have been trying to trim our book collection a little bit here and there... our shelves were getting a bit full, and the thought of the coming baby having to share a room with stacks of non-fiction acting as furniture is less than ideal. I am happy to say we off loaded about three large bags of books this past month... hooray! I now feel a bit of relief, rather than the book separation anxiety I thought I would have!

With all this book organizing taking place, I felt inspired and decided to make some bookplates. So, new in the etsy shop this season are sets of peel-and-stick bookplates featuring Cabin + Cub collage images. Each set comes with 8 different individual bookplates printed with Ultrachrome K3 archival inks on acid free Avery matte sticker paper, all removable and re-positionable (which is a nice bonus for those who, like me, are indecisive of which books to stick them in). I am also offering optional name personalization too!... see them in the shop here.

valentine cards are here

Remember Valentine's Day in elementary school?.... ahh, those were the days. My mom made me write one to everyone in the class... even if I thought a few of the boys were "icky". As a kid, it was such a dilemma to find the right little card in the punch-out Valentine's book that just said "Happy Valentine's Day" without giving off the message of "I like you". They should have made one that said... "Happy Valentine's, classmate. My mom made me send this."

Well... on a related note...I have brought back some card designs in time for Valentine's Day! Two designs available... one with heart and branches and the other with Mr. Squirrel and acorn heart. Both designs are printed on heavy rich archival matte paper with Ultrachrome K3 archival inks... and they are blank inside... so you can personalize your message as love-dovey, or not as lovey-dovey as you like. Check them out in the etsy shop here.

extra, extra, read all about it

First off... a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the US! Gobble Gobble!

Ok, so some press news today.... even though it is on the very bottom right hand corner of the entire article... and you do have to scroll down a whole lot to get to it... alas, one of my items has made it into an Etsy Storque article... woohoo! This is my first time in Storque! Check out the article here.

The way I found about it was through Heart·o·matic (I'm sure most of you have heard of it and use it already)... but if you haven't check it out. With Heart·o·matic, you can type in your etsy store's name and the site will bring up all these stats on your shop, including whether any of your items have recently been featured on different areas of etsy (like the front page). It's a bit addicting like google analytics, but perhaps only if your are into geeky stats like me! :)

Also, some additional exciting press news... the Cabin + Cub Desk Calendar has been featured in Australia's Style Collective (loving the site, btw) in their feature of Etsy 2010 calendars.... check out the article here.

ps. don't forget to come and visit me at Toque this Friday and Saturday! See details here.
