we are bookworms

Roger and I love books... we actually gave each other quite a few books over the holidays as gifts (will post some neat ones I got tomorrow!). Which leads me now to one of my new year's resolutions... to try and organize our overflowing book shelves. If I could build a library in the west wing of our home I would, but reality is we live in a 2 bedroom condo... so I think we are going to have to try and get creative with this "organizing" thing.

My dream is a home with whole walls filled with books and whole other walls filled with art. We have books in every room of our place, I wouldn't be able to function without something to read. can't wait to see your treasures

haha! Your bookshelves kind of "sag" in the middle like mine do. Looks like my hobby/computer room - mine is full of cookbooks.

I love walls full of books too. The first time I had seen books in a dining room was years ago at a tiny restaurant in Cambria (CA), it was sooo intimate and cozy. Always a dream of mine for a library/dining room. Have fun!

Books are a very important part of life in our family as well. I am on a book shelf improvement plan this year too! I'm curious to see what books you are reading this year :)

I want to have a second floor library. I actually went into a museum owner's house once and the ceiling in her living room was cut open to lead into a library that ringed the above room on the second floor. Good luck organizing!

I too want a library soo bad. I'm still at my parents house and I think I'm officially out of room - which doesn't stop me from buying books but does cause organization issues :)

I'm right there with you in reorganizing my books. I want to highlight the beautiful ones more and also, well, be able to just know where they are too!

I organized all my books by color once, and it looked so pretty on my shelf. But then when it came time to find what I was looking for... no such luck.

Have fun, can't wait to see what you do!

I wish I had a room full of bookshelves. We just got new ones on New Year's Eve. We love books too. I cringe whenever I see someone with a Kindle.

About 4 years ago I embarked on a book clearing out adventure. I donated a bunch of books to a library, I gave children's books to children I know, I donated a bunch to a second hand bookstore and the owner was thrilled! And yes, I still have more books! LOL

I dream of living in a bigger house so we can have a library. But I'll just have to be content with the small book collection we have.

My boyfriend and I have a mental list of things we would have/do if we were eccentric millionaires. One of them would be to have a huge library, with levels and ladders and wingback leather chairs and those green bankers lamps. Like the library in Beauty and the Beast... or the Library of Congress. Big dreams!

Ooh, I love getting to look at other people's book shelves since I am a bookworm too. I can't wait to see what new books you got over the holidays!

We also have tons of books overflowing off every shelf. I found this article on ehow that has some tips that look kind of interesting. Except the tip to get rid of books. Yikes! Happy organizing :D
