"I Live Here" is a visual narrative consisting of four smaller books exploring the lives of refugees and displaced people from areas of four corners of the world – Chechnya, Burma, Mexico and Malawi. Written by actress Mia Kirshner (of the L Word) and J.B. McKinnon (author of the 100-mile diet), and art directed by Paul Shoebridge and Michael Simons, the books are a collection of journals, stories, images and graphic novellas that all combine to share the voices and intimate journeys of human crisis. I was commissioned awhile back to do a challenging illustration for the book, and to my surprise, my hand embroidered heart now graces the cover of one of the them – Ciudad Juárez. Click here to see more excerpts from the book.
