More Cultural Olympiad show-and-tell today... there are a series of pavilions and hospitality houses dotted around town, most of which are opening at the end of this week to coincide with the start of the Winter Games. One that was open early, however was the Northern House (featuring culture, art and performances from Canada's three northern territories)... oh yes, and also featuring some cute fuzzy northern animals (stuffed, of course). My favourite is the cute short chubby muskox... I mean just look at it... it's so darn fuzzy. Maybe I will nickname this one Musky (after it's species name and not smell... although I have never encountered a real one, so maybe they do smell?... hmm... will have to Wiki that).
While at the Northern House, we also discovered something really cool in the exhibition building... but I am keeping it a surprise until tomorrow's post, just to be suspenseful. Ooooh... what could it be?!! Curious aren't you?

Awww! Fuzzy animals are always so cute, even if they can kill you...lol.
The muskox looks like something you want to throw your arms around and give a big hug...when he's like this that is!
i have a friend who lives in vancouver and wanted ever so much to come and visit as i LOVE the olympics, but of course it was impossible to get tickets for anything. i'm so glad to see some inside peeks on your blog though! very neat!
Totally have me curious!!
(You are so good at that)
wow! what an exciting thing to see!
Super tempted to come down.
Ooh you would love the natural history gallery at the Royal BC Museum, if you haven't been there yet? I love animal exhibits like this :)
Love these photos! I am loving my virtual experience to all things leadin up to the winter olympics curtesy of cabin & cub!
oo sounds like you had a lot of fun... I love going to museums especially of animals =D
My boyfriend wanted to steal a yak from the zoo they last time we went. I think I won't mention that muskoxen are similar. Goodness knows, he'd want to put that one in his car as well.
he is cute! he's so squatty and his horns look so tiny in comparison to his body. but yeah, i'm not sure i'd want to run into him in a dark alley!
can't wait for tomorrow's surprise!
Always visiting such interesting places, it makes my life seem so dull. We always talk about ditching the states for Canada one day. I think we're hoping to drag some people with us so we know someone. :)
It is kind of morbid that they stuff them but then we would never be able to get so close :)
Looks like me on a bad hair day (as if, I wish I had that much hair :)
Have a great day, regards, T.
For a second I thought that fluffy ox was just wandering around the Olympics... that would be something!
I like the bison myself. Can't wait to see what you have for us tomorrow!
This looks like fun! Can't wait to see the surprise!
Ohhhh, I like the fuzzy one, too!
