pretty pine cone

It feels a bit more fall-y today, so why not a fall-y image? My husband took this pretty pic while we were venturing out into the woods, enjoying the crisp cool air and taking photos... there were tons of them scattered all around our feet. Now I am regretting not gathering a bunch and having them displayed in our home... it could have made a nice fancy-schmancy Martha-inspired table arrangement in a pretty bowl... argh, don't you hate when these things pop into your head afterwards?

What a great picture! I have pine cones in a bowl on one of my book cases. I try to get fresh ones every year.

i love the softness in the background of this photo. It's a beautiful transition from summer to fall.

Last time I went camping with my boyfriend, we discovered that pinecones make great fuel for fires. They burst into flames instantly! We stayed up for hours just throwing them into the fire and clapping.

Here, it was beautiful this morning but it got so hot this afternoon and went to 83 degrees. I'd rather a brisk day!

I miss pinecones. They don't come in abundance where I live, but where I used to live, we used to make bird feeders out of them when I was a kid. It's those little things we take for granted. Maybe I'll have the inlaws mail me some so I can pass that tradition on to my kids. Hmm...I love thinking of these ideas as I'm typing. Thanks for sharing!
