collage: catching butterflies

It's the last few days of August, and autumn is coming up fast... so perfect day to enjoy a summer collage while we can! I have never tried to catch butterflies before... the idea of it always makes me think of Jane Austen-type scenarios where girls in hoop skirts gallivant through tall grass and laugh in the shimmering sun, as they unsuccessfully chase dozens of the colorful winged creatures, whilst taking breaks for tea and cakes. Hmmm... doesn't sound half bad... anyone up for some butterfly catching this afternoon?

ps. some more blog features this week - thanks to Carol for featuring one of my birdy collage on her blog That is Charming and also thanks to Gay for featuring my bookplates on her blog I Dreamed I Saw.

LOL, I have never caught butterflies either. But lightning bugs are another story!

Have a great weekend.

oh this is so pretty! i really like this, i think you've inspired me a little to try collage out. i can't draw so i like to take photos instead, but collage seems like a great way to get creative juices flowing too, i may give it a shot someday :) thanks for the inspiration!

when i was little we used to catch butterflies in our hands - they were all over our garden because of the vegetable patch and all the flowers my dad grew. i always remember the weird spidery feeling of their little wings and legs tickling my hands, it was such fun :)

When I lived in Columbus, there was a huge conservatory there that had hundreds of butterflies flying around..it was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen!!
Beautiful collage!

I love the collage! So sweet! Saw you on etsy, and I'll be following up!

If only life were so simple :) There is a butterfly exhibit every spring at the local zoo. That would be a great place to bring your net, but you'd probably get thrown out and/or arrested. Hee hee, tangent...sorry ;) Cute piece!

I'm enjoying the Jane Austen butterfly-catching fantasy a lot. But wouldn't the girls in her novels mostly be trying to catch the young men?

It's so sweet and pretty! I see dead butterflies on my pavement all the time after it rains. Needless to say, they're pretty easy to catch.

Butterflies are one of natures lovely gifts. Whilst we while away the hours shall we watch the butterflies as they flutter by? :)
Cute collage.

What an adorable collage! I've never tried catching butterflies. It's not something I would ever try because truth be known, butterflies scare me a little bit. Maybe that's weird. I don't know. I enjoy looking at them but I just don't like them fluttering too close to me! Hope you're having a lovely weekend :)
