an apple a day...

A fruit-y post today... this time of some pretty apple orchards that we had driven past last week. (Yes, it was pretty much "Stop the car, I want to take some pictures of the apples!") Not sure what kind of apples these were... they looked a bit red/purple in color... (and no, I didn't sneak one... they were a bit too large to sneak and, I believe it was a private apple farm... er... plus the road was a tad busy too, so I chickened out). I am on my quest now to try and find a u-pick orchard... I have never gone apple picking before, so it's on the top of my list of autumn-y things to do. Mmm... now I can't stop thinking about apple pies, apple pancakes, apple crumble...

Jeff and I are taking the kiddos to an apple orchard this weekend! You so have to find one and go. We used to go as kids and it's a lot of fun. We toured the place because they made cider and they always gave free samples. Mmm! Memories!

they look so pretty!

We have a cider mill near us that is so fun in the fall. You can watch them make cider and eat cider donuts...yum. It would be even more fun if you could pick the apples!

I've always wanted to go apple-picking, too, ever since I saw "The Cider House Rules." LOL.

My boyfriend's parents have an apple tree so they've been giving me bags and bags of apples. I've already made pies, breads, and some muffins, and only half the tree is bare!

I love apple picking! I don't know of any farms in your area... but if you're ever in New England in the fall, I can send you to some super awesome pick-yer-own spots!

I grew up in an apple town.
We even had apple day every year where everyone in town gets a free slice of apple pie.

I do eat an apple a day myself and I swear it does keep the dr. away! I haven't been sick in 2 years+

apples rock!

yummy! I love apples, and recently discovered that Devon LOVES them too (which makes me happy since it's so hard to get her to eat something besides mac and cheese)She likes Granny Smith (with the skin peeled off) and sliced up like little apple cookies:)

Wonder what kind? They are the color of red potatoes! I've got some apple yogurt right now that has little crisp pieces of apple in it and just a bit of cinnamon. Yum! :) The pick your own thing sounds like fun.

Not sure what type of applies these are either but they look delicious! My parents have apple trees on their property so I've had tons of homegrown ones... they are always a little funny looking and small, but taste great :)

oh apple picking - be still my heart! ;-)

we went to "the apple barn" way out in abbotsford and it was great! easy short trees, cider, kiddie fun like hayrides (or not, if that's not your thing!)... we picked 10 pounds of the biggest, juiciest honeycrisps for $8!!
