island bound

This past weekend, we ventured on a family trip to Vancouver Island (Tofino to be exact)... took a lot of pics, so I will post them in batches over the next few days. Sit back, relax, and enjoy...
This is the view from the ferry deck.... there were a lot of Poseidon Adventure and Titanic jokes from all the family, while we were enjoying the ride... I'm positive we got the stink eye from some people around us.
From the ferry, it is about a 4 hour drive to Tofino, so we stopped on the way in Coombs, a small little town with cute, and some odd, shops. So if you are in the market for giant cement lawn sculptures, you might want to stop here.
This one was my favorite... I don't think dragging it onto the ferry and then having this on our apartment balcony (the entire balcony) was an option though. So, alas, the psychotic owl family statue had to stay.

Here is a shot of the Coombs Old Country Market, one of the coolest markets ever... you will see why in the next picture.
Ok, so the market is known for their grassy roof that houses goats. Yes, you read right... there are cute little goats that walk around and graze on the grassy roof. There is even a little house for them up there as well.
And here is a close-up shot of one of the little fellas... I think he was looking at the apple tree that was in the distance, either that or he has got the modeling for tourists thing down. Ok, so I haven't posted any pics of Tofino yet... to be continued!

Looks like fun...I could use a little "adventure" right about now. I guess I will have to create my own. And goats? Come on...who doesn't love a cute little goat on the roof? Classic, lol.

I am smiling right now at the image of house goats and the sweet name of Tofino.

Great pictures (as always)

There's a little store I pass once a month that has concrete yard art. I am always tempting to stop, but since I am only passing thru on my way to set up at an outdoor market, there's never room in my car.

That store looks super neat and the goats are too cool! I thought it was a goat statue at first, then read on and got really happy :)

I want to go there! The cement statues are too cool, and any place that is a friend to goats is a friend to me. I absolutely love goats. One of my many daydreams involves living on a farm where I keep goats and use their milk to make soap and cheese.

Wow, lucky you! Tofino is my favourite place on Earth, I dragged my boyfriend there last summer and now he is hooked too - my profile pic is actually from Long Beach. Glad you guys enjoyed it!

PS Blogger preview broken and doesn't show my new post apparently. Argh! I have a new post as of Wed. It's a feature on an Etsy shop, so I'd love it if you could come by :)

Ahaha! That reminds me of a house in West Virginia. It's right by a winding country road and it's built into the side of a hill and the dirt and grass goes right up next to the house and onto the roof. It's kind of silly to drive by and see deer standing on top of the house eating the grass.
