art of craft at the olympiad

Huh?... crafts at the Olympics? Oh yes.... and I don't mean ski pole cozies either. There's a cool exhibition going on at the Museum of Vancouver called the Art of Craft as part of the Cultural Olympiad. We had a chance to check it out last week... and here are some detail shots of some of the works we saw at the show (there are over 170 works from all over Canada as well as Korea). Seeing all these beautiful pieces makes me wish I had a huge home and limitless supply of funds so that I can have them decorating my house... ahhhh, to dream.

ps. don't forget to enter the february giveaway here!!!

Awesome stuff! The jars remind me when people used to set clear bottles in their landing windows with food coloring mixed with water.

Have a great day and keep up the virtual experience for us :-)

I'm in love with those gorgeous bent wood light fixtures, guess all I need is a 6 storied entryway to hang one in...but they are just fantastic. Is the last photo some type of paper art ? It is truly spectacular.

You've done an amazing job in photographing them.

The paper planes are my fave. I love crafty art installations that play around with light and shadows.

The paper plans are pretty magical...Can you imagine if the had a real craft Olympics..."Who can knit a 5 yard scarf the fastest?! 123 GOO!!!" I would soooo watch that.

How cool! I really like those colorful glass pieces :) Also, the airplanes and the shadows they cast, neat! I used to have an intricate butterfly mobile when I was little and it would leave me mesmerized.

I love that quilt piece! If I had a sewing machine and two less jobs I would spend my time making "modern" quilts like that!

Man, that is some fantastic art work. You always venture out to these places. I should take a lesson in that. That means more trips to museums and art exhibits! There are some great ones here in Fort Worth.
